How To Take In A Shirt

The other day I made my husband go through his closet and pull out anything he would never wear again. Which was actually really hypocritical because I need it way more than he does. (Admitting it is the first step right?) Anywho, he gave me a pretty big stack of old shirts. I immediately saw tons of awesome projects unfolding in my mind. So, I decided to do one of the more basic ones first. Here is how to re-size something to fit you, whether its something you got for a steal on clearance or you raided your hubby’s clothes like I did.
If you are a very beginning seamstress this is for you!

Because it was for me, (not a child), I kept the collar the same, which makes it super easy!

It would also help for you to have a shirt of similar material, because that might affect how that “size” of shirt fits you.

Be sure to use a really small stitch so that your shirt is more durable and less likely to break open. Then, turn your shirt right side out and rock your new shirt!

Haha. I will get better at this taking-photos-of-myself thing. Maybe. Probably not.

I love how you announce how awkward you felt. :) Man I would love to do this…alas, I’ve failed so many times at sewing it’s not even funny.

Love it! I would love to learn how you make shoulder seams shorter, and how you alter the big sleeves, so they fit into the smaller hole. (The jacket I’m refashioning is absolutely gorgeous, but it’s also about 3 sizes too big,) I’m not worried about the side seams or hems because I don’t think they will be a problem.
