Halloween Wreath DIY for Under $10!

 

Hey lovelies! I am so excited to share this wreath with you today. I'm not gonna lie, I feel like I have been working on it f-o-r-e-v-e-r! I started it before I moved, so of course it got shelved for awhile, but now it's finished and I love how it turned out, I can't wait until October 1st when I can hang it up for good. 

Here's what you'll need: 

-wreath base (I found mine at the dollar store for $1)

-black yarn (Walmart $2.99)

-purple yarn (Walmart $2.99)

-orange yarn (thrifted .50)

-foam balls of various sizes (thrifted $1.50) I know that these can be really pricey to buy if you can't buy them thrifted, so here is a little tip. If I don't have foam balls, I take an old magazine, crumple up pages, and make balls myself! In fact, I ran out of the larger balls, so two of the balls on my wreath are homemade, which equals free!

-black pipe cleaners (Walmart .50)

-orange paper (had on hand)

-hot glue gun (had on hand)

-black marker (had on hand)

1.) Take your wreath base and wrap it with yarn. 

2.) Take your foam balls and wrap them in different colors of yarn. I wrapped all my little balls in orange, and split the bigger ones between black and purple. I reserved one small ball to make the black spider. 

3.) Hot glue your balls to your wreath. Patience is required for this part of the process. The hot glue will only hold well if you squeeze the balls in place until the glue firms (about 1 1/2 minutes for the big balls). As you group your balls, sometimes you will be gluing them to each other as well as the base.

4.) Take the small ball you have reserved to make your spider. Take four pipe cleaners and cut them in half, then stick four in each side, forming your spiders legs. After legs are in place, wrap ball with black yarn. 

5.) Glue your spider into place on your wreath. 

6.) To make your "boo" banner, cut out little flags in your craft paper and then add your lettering. I also outlined my flags in black to make them stand out a little bit. Hang over black yarn.

7.) Now hang and enjoy your wreath! 

 

Even though this project is a little time consuming, it doesn't take much thought, so it is a perfect watch-TV-and-mindlessly-craft type of project.
