I mentioned that we were moving into our house this week, what I didn't mention is that we are repainting the entire house. We actually bought this house from our neighbors, and completely loved it. The previous owners had so much personality and every room was a different color. Even though I liked some of the colors, they didn't really jive with my decor and personal tastes. So, we knew from the start we would have to paint.
Here are some before pictures for you:
The problem is, painting costs money. You all know we are pretty strict with our budget, plus, we just bought a house, and have a baby on the way! Also, I am a nester. Because Luke came early, I want everything to be ready and put together early for this little addition.
We went back and forth and back and forth on whether or not we were going to hire someone to paint or whether we would do it ourselves. I wanted to hire someone so, so badly. It is easier, it is quicker, it is stress free. Plus, I am pregnant. I'm not even allowed to paint (and don't worry, I am only taping.)
We got a bid to have the house repainted and the painter's estimate was $1900-$2200.
After stressing about it for weeks, my angel mother-in-law convinced me that we could make it happen ourselves. She offered to come down and help us until we were done.
My neighbor and one of my best friends Pam has been over every day with her two boys slaving away to help us paint.
We went to Lowe's and we bought the very most expensive primers, paint, and supplies (if you are going to do something, you might as well do it right!) Even buying the best of the best, we are going to be able to paint our whole house for around $600.
I have been taping, trying to do the other prep work and clean up, and babysitting while Pam, Colleen and my hot hubby paint my whole house (I'm so blessed to have such amazing people in my life). Luke has also been very patient during this huge transition while not getting as much attention as he's used to.
So, here is to doing things thehard smart way. I can't wait to post the after pictures for you guys. Wish us luck for the rest of our big project.

We just painted our ENTIRE house too. Lots of hard work, but definitely worth the savings. We didn't even get an estimate, but after seeing your quote, I feel much better about it! There were a few times that we thought that we should have just paid for it!
ReplyDeleteFreak!! I wish I was there to help you. I know it is going to be amazing. I cannot wait to see the finished project. LOVE YOU!
