DIY Chalkboard (from thrifted frame!)

Okay,  I am super happy with how this project turned out, especially since it only cost me $5 to do. I found the frame at the thrift store and bought a can of chalkboard spray paint from Wal-Mart. I am so excited for all the possible ways I can use it. Menu planning, writing fun messages, inspirational quotes, song lyrics, etc!

Step one: I bought the framed picture purely because I liked the simple gold frame. It had a regular glass plate, the print, and then a piece of cardboard to hold it in.

Step 2: I removed the art and spray painted the glass. It would have probably taken less paint if I had put a black piece of paper behind it. You live you learn! I felt like I had to keep spraying so it wasn't see-through anymore.

Step 3: After a few hours it was dry enough to put back in the frame. I put the cardboard back in as well. The spray paint directions say to wait 24 hours until you start writing on it, so I did that too. It was hard to be patient. But I did it. Now I get to doodle as much as my heart desires. And it's truly that simple.

  2. Good idea. Can I use regular chalk board paint? I have some I use to label jars.
I hope you'll stop by my link party. I just started it earlier this month.

  4. This is adorable, I have some leftover chalkboard paint from doing a wall in my kitchen, so I think I will definitely have to put it toward making one of these! Thanks for sharing! :)
