Fabric Scrap Wreath

This wreath was inspired by this fifteen minute wreath. Yes, it took only fifteen minutes to put together. I totally winged this and I was surprised how well it turned out for how little effort I made!

All you need is: 

One basic wreath form- can be straw, foam or whatever else you see fit. Here's one just like mine.

Fabric scraps

Glue (i used a regular glue stick)

Ribbon, flowers, etc. for embellishment (optional!)

So, as you can see I had a pile of fabric scraps that were long and thin. If you have a big fabric scrap just use scissors to cut little slits in your piece of fabric about an inch apart and then you can tear it into strips like mine, or you can just cut them all that will work too. Also prior to beginning I wrapped my wreath in saran wrap to keep my fabric from sliding around on it. I pressed one end of a fabric scrap to the wreath and began wrapping, slightly overlapping them so that it would all stay down. I did not use glue- I just wrapped it tightly and it stayed in place nicely on it's own.

When I got to the end of my first scrap I pressed a new scrap down on top of the place where the last one ended and kept going (middle photo.) The overlaps on these transitioning scraps are very important. Then I repeated this process until the very end. When it was time to lay my last scrap down I dabbed a little bit of Elmer's glue stick onto the edge of the fabric as shown above and stuck it down. 

Then just to add a little flavor I grabbed some pink ribbon I had laying around and tied a little bow around the wreath. I think fabric flowers would look super nice as well, or a cluster of bows. Anyway, SO easy. This is just another manifestation of the truth that you don't have to go out and spend a fortune on a new wreath. You can change this up as often as you want, and who doesn't love to find new uses for their scraps?
