A Fifteen Minute Wreath

If there is one trait I wish I had more than any other it is endless patience. But alas, I don't even have momentary patience very often. That is why this is the perfect craft for me. So easy, so quick, so cheap. I sound like a broken record over here.

It came about because I had a friend from out of town who was going to drop by and I have nothing on my front door. Luke just happened to be napping which is not his strongest suit, so I decided to take advantage and whip something up.

First grab your wreath form, the one I actually used was from the dollar store, but I also like these cheap alternatives here and here.

Then I dug out my scrap bin and picked out the piece I wanted. I loved this silky blue it felt bright and springy to me. Then I cut a long strip of fabric about an inch and a half wide. Put a little hot glue on the end of your fabric and stick it to your wreath. Then glue and wrap and glue and wrap until your wreath is covered.

After the wreath was completely covered I found a fabric scrap that complimented the blue and made a bow.

I think I am going to change the bow color, because I don't like how it blends into the back of the door so much. Also, wouldn't this wreath be so cute layered over a simple stick wreath? My friend Pam suggested it, and I love the idea! Now I am going to be searching the clearance bins...

Super quick and easy!

  1. This is genius. I am in desperate need of a spring wreath. Especially since my split pea one isn't working out. (used the wrong kind of glue, need to start over, too lazy?)

  2. For the one I made on our door you need:

    yarn
    felt
    ribbon
    hot glue gun
    scissors
    styrafoam wreath

Weave the yarn around the wreath so it covers the whole thing.

use the felt to create flowers

hot glue the felt flowers anywhere on your wreath.

use ribbon to hang on wreath hanger

    :)

  4. Again, you are very creative! I agree that the ribbon needs to be a different color. Nothing says "welcome" better than a nice wreath on your front door!
