Conference Crepes
It's almost time for General Conference, and I am so excited to share with you one of my favorite traditions: Conference Crepes. Pretty self- explanatory. The thing I love about Crepes is that you are the creator of your own destiny when it comes to fillings. My dad used to make me and my brother crepes growing up, most often when strawberry and peach seasons came around. I am still convinced that strawberries or peaches and some powdered sugar rolled up in a crepe is the most divine thing a person will ever taste.
So a few years ago I decided that I wanted to have crepes every General Conference. I don't know what inspired me, but I love this tradition now and it perfectly parallels with the strawberry and peach harvest seasons. Bonus! So this is how we crepe:
This basic recipe.
My dad taught me to use a blender to smooth the batter, which will give you a perfect crepe.
As I mentioned, my toppings of choice are strawberries or peaches and powdered sugar.
Husband prefers his crepes with cream cheese and jam inside. If that is not available he likes just plain maple syrup. I had never heard of eating crepes either of those two ways until he came along. We also like a good banana and nutella crepe, of course.
So now I want to know, how do you fill your crepes? And do you have any General Conference traditions? I would love to hear about them!

hey what about a recipe miss Sarah??
ReplyDeleteMy husband's family always makes cinnamon rolls before the Sunday morning Conference session. They have an odd habit of using the barest scraping minimum amount of icing (?!), and they LOVE it! I will be getting a recipe handy for tomorrow, and icing mine generously. (:
